We have had a lot of fun over the Jubilee weekend and holiday. As this has been the first major national event that Harry has been old enough to begin to comprehend, it seemed worthwhile to pursue the theme as we all enjoyed it. The boys have decorated some crowns this weekend, with a red, white and blue theme. Peter seemed to really enjoy it too and I used gem and crown stickers instead of glue which made it easier for him. We used some leftover fabric from their capes to finish them off.
They have both been playing kings in their capes too
We have been reading these books, which Harry has enjoyed and asked for several times. 
As some of the vocabulary is quite specific, I used some Jubilee paper to write it down and we discussed the meanings.
It was our Jubilee party today at our house. We decorated last night with balloons, paper chains and some fabulous home-made bunting borrowed from one of our party friends.
The weather wasn't entirely kind to us and it rained most of the morning but the children still seemed to have a whale of a time. After lunch we passed a Jubilee themed parcel and read Paddington at the Palace, before some climbing and racing around the garden.
It was lovely to have a busy, noisy house full of friends and happy children! So busy, in fact, that I neglected to take many more photos, but we did really enjoy it and the boys were both asleep before 6.30pm!
We really enjoyed making some new biscuits for our Jubilee party. We stamped out circle shapes then cut out a star from the middle. We put a colourful boiled sweet in the star hole to bake, which melted to leave a pretty jewel colour in the middle. They were very popular, so I think we will be making these again!
We are getting excited about a Jubilee party we are hosting at our house on Saturday for some of our home ed friends. We have sent the invitations and started gathering red, white and blue decorations. I am hoping, like most of the country I imagine, that the weather stays reasonable for the weekend so we can eat and play in the garden.
My mum used her sewing talents to make some capes for the boys to wear too. I hadn't expected them to be so fabulous!
